In Ender's Game, "Lies more Dependable than truth..."?

I was wondering, are there any other situations where that's true? In the book, whenever you ask an adult if it's going to hurt, they really do lie when it does hurt. And of course, when you know that someone is a liar, you can count on their next statement to be a lie. Any other situations?
