When franchising, can the franchise be igned to heirs?

Dawn is correct in stating that you should read the agreement of the specific franchise in question (within the UFOC, which should pretty well mirror your franchise agreement, the section in question is number 17). However, most franchise agreements use standard language, and in the case of ignment due "to death or disability", you will usually have to obtain written consent from the franchisor. Most also state that "Consent will not be unreasonably withheld". So generally it is not a problem.
